Ready for a Career Change? Here's Why I Left the Skies for Jade & Crystals and Why You Should Too!

Hello! I’m Esther. 

I used to be a cabin crew, and flying was my passion. Being a cabin crew was a journey I’ll always treasure. Some things are just unforgettable, like the sunrise after a red-eye flight, being able to travel around the world in just a month or visiting my favorite place, Japan, with colleagues after a long-haul flight. Every month, I eagerly checked my flight schedule, wondering which exciting destination I'd visit next!

But life as a cabin crew was more than just the glamour of travel. Often, I'd be preparing for a flight at 3 am, while most people were still in dreamland. For almost seven years, this was my routine. Despite the exhaustion, I genuinely loved it. However, when COVID hit, everything came to a standstill. Flights were grounded, and many of us were left questioning our futures.

That pause forced me to reflect. "Is this the long-term career I want?" I wanted something more stable, something that would keep me grounded (literally!). It was time to find a path that aligned with my values and offered room for growth.

Preparing for Life Beyond the Skies

While still flying, I enrolled in Business studies at PSB Academy. Juggling work, jet lag, and studies wasn’t easy, but I knew it was essential to prepare for the next chapter of my life. Over time, I realized my true passion: connecting with people, understanding their needs, and helping create positive experiences. As a cabin crew member, I developed strong people skills like communication,  empathy, and conflict resolution, and I knew I wanted to continue doing this but on the ground.

That's when I discovered Human Resources. It felt like a natural transition, supporting employees, fostering a positive company culture, and helping the team grow. It's all about people, just in a different setting.

Making the Switch: Joining CRZtales

I decided to apply for an HR & Operations role at CRZtales, a crystal company. Before sending my application, I took time to reflect on my strengths and the kind of work environment I wanted. I wanted a place where I could continue to make an impact, just in a new industry.

I was thrilled when CRZtales invited me for an interview. The process was thoughtful and inspiring.

• Round 1: The first round was on-site and included hands-on tasks, such as basic crafting and photography. Even though I had no experience, the interviewer was patient and guided me, which helped ease my nerves.
  
  

• Round 2: The Zoom interview was all about who I am as a person. It focused on my background, values, and motivations. It solidified my confidence that CRZtales was the right fit for me.

During the interview, I was genuinely impressed by my now-boss who made me feel seen and respected. She noticed that I was more fluent in Mandarin and gave me the option to answer questions in either Mandarin or English. That small gesture made a big impact on me and reassured me about the company culture!

A Whole New Chapter

When I officially started my role, I handled a little bit of everything to familiarize myself with the company. I learned about operations, recruitment, onboarding and team culture, while also supporting the boss and even helping with retail whenever needed. It’s a fast-paced, hands-on, and ever-evolving environment, where every day brings something new—that’s what makes it exciting. On top of that, I started learning about crystals and their incredible benefits, opening my eyes to a whole new world. It’s been such a fascinating journey!

More Than Just a Job. It’s a Personal Transformation

Joining CRZtales wasn’t just a career switch; it was a transformation! I went from the skies to something much more grounded, and in the process, I discovered a newfound appreciation for the little things like morning chats with the team, learning something new every day, and doing work that feels meaningful.
